The Division for Arts and Humanities is proud to announce that Associate Professor Brandi Wilkins Catanese, Associate Professor of African American Studies and Theater, Dance and Performance Studies and Associate Dean of the Graduate Division, has been awarded the2026 Chancellor’s Award for Advancing Institutional Excellence and Equity (CAAIEE)
For the past 19 years, CAAIEE has been presented to UC Berkeley faculty members for outstanding contributions in enhancing equity, belonging, and/or justice through their research, teaching, and public and/or university service.
Professor Catanese will use the grant to support the development of an interdisciplinary creative initiative focused on local and regional histories. Through a combination of curriculum, public programming, and community engagement, students will explore the varied and intersecting histories of the state of California.
