UC Berkeley’s Division of Arts & Humanities welcomes Robyn Jensen as of July 1, 2022. Jensen, an assistant teaching professor in the campus’s Department of Slavic Languages & Literatures, specializes in Russian literature and culture of the 19th and 20th centuries.
Her research interests comprise influential Russian authors such as Vladimir Nabokov and Anton Chekhov; Moscow Conceptualism; narratives of the self; visual culture and photography theory; aesthetics and interart studies; theater and performance studies; and prison literature and carceral studies. Jensen’s previous publications consist of articles and book chapters, public writings and film reviews. Currently, she is working on her first book project, tentatively titled Nabokov’s Camera Eye.
Jensen received both her M.A. and M.Phil in Slavic languages and literatures from Columbia University in 2013 and 2015, respectively, where she also earned her Ph.D. in 2019. Her previous teaching experience includes lecturing at UC Berkeley and serving as a visiting assistant professor at Pomona College. Currently, she is facilitating courses on Nabokov and Russian literature from the 19th century to the present.
