Book Chats: Nana Adusei-Poku and Anneka Lenssen: Taking Stakes in the Unknown: Tracing Post-Black Art

March 22, 12pm, Stephens Hall, In Taking Stakes in the Unknown, Nana Adusei-Poku (History of Art) examines the socio-historical and cultural context of the notion of “post-black” art. She grounds her study in Freestyle, a 2001 exhibition at the Studio Museum in Harlem featuring the works of 28 emerging black artists whose work was characterized by the show’s curator, Thelma Golden, as “post-black.”

Townsend Una's Lecture: Apichatpong Weerasethakul in conversation with Hilton Als

April 11, 5pm, BAMPFA Osher Theater, Filmmaker Apichatpong Weerasethakul is the 2022-23 Una’s Lecturer. His work has won widespread acclaim and numerous awards, including the Cannes Film Festival's Palme d'Or for Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives (2010).
