Denise Mendez (she/her/ella) was born and raised in Santa Rosa, California. She is a transfer student from Santa Rosa Junior College. She is majoring in Sociology at Cal. Her research focuses on the student parent journey in higher education. As a student parent herself she hopes to inspire more student parents to continue in their academic journey. She will finish her undergraduate studies at UC Berkeley in 2024 and plans to pursue a PhD in Sociology and go on to mentor and support other student parents. She hopes to eventually work at a 4-year university or community college.
