Denise Mendez (she/her/ella) was born and raised in Santa Rosa, California. She is a transfer student from Santa Rosa Junior College. She is majoring in Sociology at Cal. Her research focuses on the student parent journey in higher education. As a student parent herself she hopes to inspire more student parents to continue in their academic journey. She finished her undergraduate studies at UC Berkeley in 2024 and plans to pursue a PhD in Sociology and go on to mentor and support other student parents. She hopes to eventually work at a 4-year university or community college.
